Welcome Message
From The MAVMA President

On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Malaysian Veterinary Medical Association (MAVMA), I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the 32nd MAVMA Congress. This year’s theme is very pertinent – “Covid-19: Reshaping the Future of Veterinary Profession & Industry” – as this Congress provides an opportunity for MAVMA to consolidate our experiences and knowledge in navigating the post-pandemic scenario in Malaysia.

Since the last time we met at the 31st MAVMA Congress in 2019, we now live in a very different world with the risk of Covid-19 infection, emerging zoonotic diseases, and climate change posing new challenges to the veterinary profession.

It is this new normal that presents an urgent need for MAVMA to convene this Congress for members of the veterinary profession to discuss and strategize the way forward to cope with the mounting challenges.

The Organizing Committee have constructed an engaging scientific programme, that captures recent advancements in Zoonotic Disease Surveillance, Covid-19 Vaccine Development, Wildlife Disease Surveillance, African Swine Fever, and Transboundary Disease Control together with our close collaborators in Thailand.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Organizing Committee of MAVMA Congress 2022 for their tireless efforts in making this event a success and their commitment to furthering the veterinary medical profession here in Malaysia.

Lastly, I would like to encourage all of us who are here to share, question, challenge, inspire and encourage one another and support the continued growth of the veterinary medical community.

Professor Dato' Dr Mohd Azmi Mohd Lila
President
Malaysian Veterinary Medical Association (MAVMA) 2021/2023
Previously known as Veterinary Association Malaysia (VAM)

Welcome Message
From The Organising Chairman

It is my pleasure to announce the Malaysian Veterinary Medical Association, MAVMA (formerly known as Veterinary Association Malaysia, VAM) will be organising the 32nd MAVMA Congress which will be held from 15-16 July 2022.

Since the last congress in 2019, the world has seen the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 and the accompanying unfolding of the COVID-19 pandemic. This congress will be the continuation after a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic, and it will be the first to be held under the new association's name after it was approved by the Registry of Societies (ROS) in January 2021. Given the focus on the post-COVID19 pandemic, our plenary speakers will discuss on zoonotic disease surveillance, COVID vaccine development and transboundary disease control. In addition, 32nd MAVMA Congress 2022 will share the perspectives and breakthroughs within the veterinary community. This upcoming congress, with the theme "Covid-19: Reshaping the Future of the Veterinary Profession and Industry", will serve and provide valuable current information to propel us to the next level of veterinary medicine and services in this COVID-19 pandemic situation.

Our fellow committee members are working hard to put together an impactful and relevant scientific programme, with specially crafted knowledge exchange sessions and networking opportunities with fellow peers in the industry. The annual MAVMA Congress is an excellent platform to exchange ideas, share information regarding ideas and application of veterinary-related tools and other allied sciences, and a great occasion for all members to meet and greet, make connections, and network. With the information obtained from the 32nd MAVMA Congress 2022, it is hoped that we could reshape the future of the veterinary profession and industry towards adaptability and resilience.

I would like to extend our sincere invitation to yourself and fellow colleagues in our association to join us in the 32nd MAVMA Congress 2022 to make this congress a great success.

On behalf of the MAVMA Executive Committee and Organising Committee, we thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you at the congress!

Dr. Helen Mitin
Chairman
32nd MAVMA Congress 2022 Organising Committee
